It is happening right now. In this very moment. A few hours ago. And then again in another moment. It is happening in the midst of us. It affects women of every age, every background, and regardless of their social status. And: it is not an isolated case.

Every 23 minutes, a pregnant woman dies as a result of an unsafe abortion — one of the leading causes of maternal mortality worldwide, and at the same time the only cause that is almost entirely preventable.

Doctors Without Borders is committed to ensuring access to safe and free abortion as an essential part of healthcare, in order to put an end to preventable death and suffering.

A FORGOTTEN EMERGENCY aims to break the taboo surrounding abortion and to show that all women have the right to a safe, self-determined abortion. Everywhere.
